UK-based BAM Construction has been awarded a contract for the £11m redevelopment of the grade II listed Braime Pressings factory for the University Technical Colleges (UTC) Leeds.
The plans include restoration of surplus space inside the factory building, which is located on Hunslet Road in Leeds
The building will house a 5,200m² state-of-the-art college, as well as allocated areas for heavy engineering, production lines, and a mini factory.
The project also includes development of classrooms and lecture-style theatres inside the building premises.
The new UTC Leeds building is intended to have a capacity for 600 students.

BAM Construction has been appointed as the main contractor for the rebuilding the factory, which was previously used for car metal pressing.
Application for planning permission for the project has been submitted to Leeds City Council. It had been designed by a consultant team comprising of Leeds planning consultancy Turley, Mott Macdonald, and Race Cottam Architects.
UTC Leeds in expected to be opened in September 2016.
UTC Leeds steering group member and West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce business representation and policy head Mark Goldstone said: "The fact that the college will be located next to a functioning manufacturing plant is an excellent example of how closely linked the college is to industry.
"Members of the UTC Leeds steering group have been extremely impressed both with the quality of the bid from BAM Construction and with the collaborative approach they have adopted with the project."
Bam bid manager John Scahill said: "We have already had our first major meeting, bringing together all internal stakeholders on the build to make sure everything is ready to go as soon as we break ground so we are able to deliver a fully operational college upon opening in September 2016."
Turley associate director Mike Ashworth said: "The site, a listed building, is perfect for the college and a good example of how older, underused industrial buildings can be reimagined for alternative uses and preserved for generations to come."
