UK-based Baharash Architecture has revealed its design plan for Oasis Eco Resort, which will be built in Liwa, UAE, by Dubai-based company Eco Resort Group.
Claimed to be the greenest resort in the world, the project will have more than 157,000m² of solar panels, onsite wastewater treatment and recycling facilities and a zero-emission zone.
The water requirement of the resort features 84 interconnecting suites and is expected to be fulfilled from ground.
Baharash Architecture founder Baharash Bagherian was quoted by Arabianbusiness.com as saying: "At the very early stages of the project, we found out that we could extract groundwater using a deep well.
"This gave us an opportunity to create a story around a spring, which was of critical importance to Bedouins for trade and transportation routes."
Scheduled to open in 2020, the accommodation and functional areas of Oasis Eco Resort will be scattered around the spring, which remains at the heart of the development’s design, reports Arabianbusiness.com.

By GlobalDataAccording to an Emirates 24/7 report, the proposed resort is among several eco resorts that Eco Resort Group is expecting to open over the next few years.
Last September, Baharash architecture received the contract to design Oasis Eco Resort, reports Designboom.
Bagherian was then quoted by Designboom as stating: "UAE has some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the region, such as Liwa, which is a perfect destination for eco retreats.
"We are seeing a new generation of emiratis who are looking to lead a more sustainable life style, in line with UAE’s vision to become one of the most sustainable countries in the world.
"Thus eco retreats are a great sustainable alternative to the usual jet-setting trips."
