NCC has signed an agreement with the City of Vantaa for the construction of a new swim centre in Finland, which is the first project within the wider Elmo Sport Park.
The project is valued at approximately Skr460m ($43.31m).
The new sports facility in the city, Elmo Sport Park, has been planned for year-round sports and physical exercise.
The swimming hall will become one of the largest in the country, covering an area of around 9,400m².
It will have seven pools ranging from a 50m pool with ten lanes, a therapy pool, a children’s pool, a teaching pool, a diving pool, a paddling pool, and a cold pool.
Additionally, the centre will feature a gym and an exercise room.

By GlobalDataThe swim centre will incorporate solar panels on its roof and use a system to recirculate heat from the pools and showers.
A section of the building will also have a green roof.
NCC Building Nordics head Catarina Molén-Runnäs said: “Swim centres are demanding wet room contracts and based on our solid experience, we will construct a facility that matches the city’s budget, has a long service life and is efficient to operate over time.
“We look forward to realising the City of Vantaa’s vision and this major investment in sports, which will start with the construction of this swim centre.”
Construction is expected to commence in mid-2024, with completion anticipated in 2026.
The order will be registered under NCC’s Building Nordics business area in the second quarter of 2024.
In a separate development, NCC Sweden has chosen Ivalua’s spend management platform to enhance and digitise its supplier onboarding, risk, and performance management processes.
Additionally, earlier this month, NCC was awarded a turnkey contract to renovate eight residential blocks in the Sönderpark area of Ringsted, Denmark.
