Construction company NCC has been commissioned to redevelop the Ågården neighbourhood in Nörrebro, a district in Copenhagen, Denmark.

This marks the first project under fsb HJEM, which is a collaboration between NCC, COWI, Arkitektur Norden, and Smith Innovation, aiming to modernise residential units owned by fsb.

fsb is Copenhagen’s largest public housing organisation. Founded in 1933, it owns more than 13,000 homes in the country’s capital.

The project is valued at around Skr225m ($21.56m) and will involve the renovation of 326 residential units within two large residential blocks.

The refurbishment project of the Ågården neighbourhood, which was constructed in the 1980s, will consider the ongoing activities of businesses and residents in the vicinity.

NCC senior project manager of refurbishment Katrine Hald said: “The redevelopment of Ågården is an assignment that is well-aligned with NCC’s expertise.

“Once again, we will be working in the middle of a residential area, which places high demands on cooperation and creative solutions to ensure that the refurbishment is conducted as smoothly as possible for residents of the area.”

Renovation work is scheduled to start in the coming months, with completion expected in 2026.

The order value of the project will be registered in NCC’s Building Nordics business segment in the first quarter of 2024.

This project comes after NCC secured a turnkey contract to refurbish and extend Ångermanland District Court in Härnösand, Sweden, earlier this week.
