Swedish construction firm NCC has started work on a new office project at Masthuggskajen in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Named Habitat 7, the project includes nearly 8,000m² of office space.

This new office building, located near the company’s Våghuset and Brick Studios projects, has been designed to create the least possible environmental impact.

The eight-storey development is being built utilising solid wood technology, with a hybrid frame of climate-smart concrete and wood.

It is centrally situated at Järntorget and in close proximity to good communication links, restaurants, and bars.

NCC Property Development head Joachim Holmberg said: “We are now continuing our development of Masthuggskajen and commencing work on our third project in the district.

“Habitat 7 is a spectacular office project, and an option for companies seeking a sustainable workplace that goes beyond the ordinary.

“The outdoor feeling has been brought indoors at Habitat 7 to offer the best possible conditions for employee creativity and wellbeing.”

Habitat 7 is being constructed to achieve sustainability certifications at the BREEAM Excellent level, NollCO2, and Citylab.

Restaurants are planned to be constructed at street level.

Work on the office development is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.

In April this year, NCC collaborated with property management firm Kustbostäder to build new rental apartments, as well as retail premises, in central Oxelösund, Sweden.

Occupation of these buildings is anticipated to begin in autumn 2024.
