
Finland’s Aalto University has commissioned NCC for the construction of two buildings on the university campus area in Otaniemi, Espoo.
The contract is valued at around SEK340m ($37.19m).
The first building will feature teaching and research facilities and an event and studio centre of around 6,500m2.
The second building will accommodate teaching and research facilities with an area of around 5,700m2, with new premises primarily intended for the School of Electrical Engineering and the School of Science.
NCC Building Nordics head Catarina Molén-Runnäs said: “This project includes many features and installations that meet the current technical and environmental expectations of modern university buildings. It feels very exciting to have the opportunity to expand this well-known campus together with Aalto University.”
Construction work will commence in January 2022. The project is estimated to be completed in spring 2023.

Earlier this month, NCC secured a contract, worth about $143m (SEK1.3bn), for a hospital project in Oulu, Finland.
The Joint Municipal Authority of the Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District awarded the contract to construct building F at the Oulu University Hospital.
The construction of the new building is part of the second phase of the hospital’s development programme.
The 33,000m2 F building will comprise imaging facilities, oncology outpatient clinic, pharmacy, laboratory, and the oncology ward.
Currently, the company is constructing A building at Oulu University Hospital.
NCC stated that the initial parts of the building will be operational in one year.
