Spread across two million square feet, the centre comprises five structures.  The 18,000-seat arena of Chase Center will serve as the home court for the Golden State Warriors basketball team. It will also be the hub for 200 events each year.

The centre also houses two 11-storey buildings on 11 acres of land.

It features a glass-enclosed gatehouse, 20 retail shops and 925 underground parking spaces.

The venue will also accommodate theatre performances from next year. The facility also has club suites, lounges and concourse areas that have food and beverage options.

Mortenson | Clark project director Jim McLamb said, “We had an exceptional pool of talented and determined project partners, all rowing in the same direction and working toward the same goal. At the end of the day, that translated into a high-quality end-product delivered on time, and in the safest manner possible.”

As the general contractor, Mortenson | Clark led a team of 260 firms that included engineers, trade contractors, sub-consultants and vendors.

The team worked with the Warriors Organisation, the owners representative firm CAA ICON, in addition to the design team comprising architects MANICA, Kendall Heaton Associates, and Gensler.

Mortenson | Clark started the planning of the structure five years ago and used 4D modelling to ensure that the work was completed on time.

It claims to have used a new construction approach wherein the arena was unravelled from other structures on site and then construction around its four structural concrete cores was accordingly sequenced.

According to this plan, each quadrant of the arena had its own schedule for concrete, steel, and enclosure works.

The first event at the new facility will be held on 6 September.
