Moray Council, in partnership with Springfield Properties, has finalised the contractual terms for the construction of 39 new affordable homes in Aberlour, Scotland, UK.

This initiative is a part of the broader Moray Growth Deal.

The development is being supported by both Moray Council and the Scottish Government, with the latter contributing an additional £5.3m ($6.64m) towards the £10.1m Speyview project in the area.

The funding is part of a larger £7.5m Housing Mix Delivery project, to deliver up to 300 affordable homes across various regions.

These regions include Elgin, Forres, Speyside, and the Buckie coastal area in Scotland.

The Speyview site will feature a diverse range of housing options designed to cater to the specific needs of the Aberlour community and the broader Speyside area.

These options include one-bedroom cottage flats, as well as two-bedroom accessible bungalows for individuals with mobility issues.

In addition, the Aberlour site will see infrastructure enhancements, including a new junction to be constructed onto the A95 road.

The approved planning application for the development comprised several conditions to promote safety and connectivity.

These conditions encompass the installation of new active travel links, laybys, bus stops, and fencing and barriers.

Furthermore, a travel pack will be provided to all residents to promote the safe use of these facilities.

Springfield managing director Tom Leggeat said: “We are delighted to work with Moray Council on the delivery of these high-quality and energy-efficient homes in this area.

“Moray Council is a longstanding partner of ours and together we have already delivered hundreds of homes for people that need them across Moray and we’re looking forward to making a start on site at Speyview in the coming weeks.”

Construction of the junction improvements is scheduled to commence this month and is anticipated to take three months to complete.

The laying of housing foundations will follow the completion of these upgrades.
