Pharma company Moderna has announced its investment in a new science centre, called as the Moderna Science Center, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the US.
Located at 325 Binney Street, this environmentally sustainable, digitally enabled 462,000ft2 centre is being built to support Moderna’s growth as it continues to advance its pipeline of mRNA medicines.

Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel said: “We have been located in Massachusetts since our founding more than 10 years ago and are proud to be based here. As we advance our mRNA platform and science, our new science center will integrate digital-first scientific research and development labs along with space for innovation and co-creation with our people and our partners around the world.
“Our commitment to sustainability and accessibility requires us to think differently about space. Even as we grow, we are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint. The new centre will feature custom spaces for research and development, and integrate scientific and non-scientific spaces to maximise collaboration and disruptive innovation.

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated, a global commercial real estate services company, represented Moderna in the search for its science center.
The building is targeting LEED Platinum Core & Shell and LEED Zero Energy certifications and is designed to be a sustainable commercial lab building in Cambridge.
It will feature efficient systems and acoustical and light pollution mitigation measures.
Since its establishment in 2010, Moderna has been based in the East Cambridge life sciences hub in Massachusetts. The Company opened its manufacturing facility in Norwood, Massachusetts in 2018.
Moderna has 37 programmes in development, including 22 in ongoing clinical studies.
