Micron Technology has named Bechtel as its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner for the first phase of its planned $100bn semiconductor manufacturing complex in Clay, New York.
The site, located at White Pine Commerce Park in Onondaga County, is intended to become what the company describes as the largest semiconductor manufacturing facility in the US.

Bechtel is preparing to mobilise on-site immediately and expects to increase its workforce rapidly to support the project.
Micron began initial work on the New York fabrication facility in January 2026 and is now shifting to more advanced stages of construction with the involvement of Bechtel.
According to the companies, this project marks the largest-ever private investment in New York state’s history.
The estimates suggest the facility could generate about $16.7bn a year in real economic output for the state and deliver roughly $5.4bn annually in personal income to residents over the next 30 years.
Once completed, the memory manufacturing complex is projected to create 50,000 jobs across the state of New York, including more than 4,500 roles in construction.
Project leaders expect that, at peak construction, thousands of additional skilled jobs will be supported, benefitting union trades, apprentices, local training programmes, contractors, suppliers and other construction professionals.
Micron and Bechtel plan to conduct community engagement initiatives as they develop the project team and supply network to strengthen local supply chains and trade labour capacity.
Micron Technology global operations executive vice-president Manish Bhatia said: “As the only US manufacturer of memory, we know a project of this scale and complexity is only possible through the strength of partnership, and we are pleased to partner with Bechtel – unlocking the full strength of their global capabilities, technical expertise, and world-class teams, to bring this facility to life.”
Bechtel president and COO Craig Albert said: “This project represents more than the construction of a semiconductor manufacturing campus, it is part of the foundation of America’s industrial future.”
Micron’s broader plans for the state include the potential construction of up to four fabrication plants over the next two decades. The company anticipates that these investments will qualify for the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Credit.
Additional support has been secured at the federal, state and local levels. This includes up to $6.4bn in CHIPS Act funding for facilities in Idaho, New York and Virginia, as well as up to $5.5bn in New York state incentives through the GREEN CHIPS programme.
