The new campus will include two five-storey buildings and about 1,100 Medtronic employees will be relocated to at the new site.

It will feature a fitness centre, indoor and outdoor bicycle parking, outdoor open spaces, a full-service cafeteria with indoor and outdoor seating, areas for team activities, a recreation loop, as well as access to trails and public transportation.

The facility will also be equipped with fully automated and programmable air handles, and advanced ventilation, filtration, and air distribution systems.

Medtronic has planned to shift research and development work as well as some administrative functions to the new Lafayette campus and will maintain manufacturing operations at the Louisville and Boulder sites.

Upon completion in the second half of 2022, the centre is expected to become the firm’s second largest site in the US.
