Construction company McLaren Construction has been appointed as construction contractor by Camden Council for four towers on the Chalcots Estate in London, UK.

The company has been awarded contract for major works project at Bray, Burnham, Dorney and Taplow towers.

The technical designs, specifications, and surveys have already completed for the four tower blocks.
The pre-construction phase on the towers is scheduled to commence soon.

As part of the work schedule, work on the project will begin in early this year and the new cladding installation will commence in the summer.

Camden Council stated that McLaren Construction will work on two tower blocks at the same time.

For the fifth tower block on the estate, the council has awarded a separate two stage design and construction contract to construction engineering firm John Graham Construction.

Better Homes cabinet member Meric Apak said: “This is a significant step forward and I know that residents will be pleased to see this appointment as they share our determination to see works get underway as soon as possible in line with covid safe measures.

“I would like to thank residents for the vital role they have had in this appointment including the resident procurement panel, who have given up their own time to ensure residents’ voices have been heard throughout this process.

“Our sights are now firmly set on quality and the safe completion and I look forward to a shared resident-focused approach as we move forward with the delivery of this project.”

In July last year, McLaren Construction was appointed as the main contractor by British Land for the second phase of Aldgate Place development in London.
