L&T Construction, Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) construction subsidiary, has been awarded contracts for various projects in India.

The construction company has classified the orders as ‘significant’, which is worth between INR10bn ($134.2m) and INR25bn ($335m).

The company’s Water & Effluent Treatment business unit has secured a contract from the Uttar Pradesh State Water & Sanitation Mission (SWSM) for rural water supply projects to provide Functional House Tap Connection (FHTC) under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

This business unit will also be responsible for the implementation of rural water supply projects to deliver potable water to approximately 1285 villages in the Varanasi and Ghazipur districts.

The scope of work under the contract involves pump houses cum chlorination rooms, solar plants, rising main & distribution pipeline network and treatment systems.

It also includes tube wells, overhead tanks, staff quarters, individual house connections as well as allied electromechanical and automation works.

L&T stated that the business unit is already working on Water Supply Schemes in Balrampur and Shravasti, Chitrakhoot and Sonbhadra Gonda, Mahoba, Banda districts for the State Water & Sanitation Mission of Uttar Pradesh.

In Maharashtra, L&T’s Buildings & Factories business unit has been awarded a contract to construct residential towers in Mulund suburb in Mumbai.

Under the contract, the company will be responsible for the construction of civil structure including masonry, waterproofing and plastering of seven residential towers containing a basement, ground and 55 floors.

Recently, the Water & Effluent Treatment Business unit secured a contract from Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to design, construct and operate sewage treatment plants and intermediate sewage pumping stations in Bengaluru.
