L&T Construction wins contract for new hospital in India

L&T Construction, the construction subsidiary of Indian conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has secured a contract from the Government of Odisha, India to build clinical blocks and allied infrastructure for an advanced hospital in Cuttack.

The construction company has classified the contract as ‘large’, which means contract could worth between INR25bn ($329m) and INR50bn ($658m).

The company stated that the duration of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project is 30 months.

Its Buildings & Factories business unit will construct four clinical blocks (B+G+9 floors) comprising composite structural systems as well as other ancillary buildings.

The facility will have a total of 2,058 beds. It will cover speciality departments such as Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Casualty, Neurology, Endocrinology, trauma, Hematology, Hepatology, Surgical blocks, as well as general surgery.

Under the contract, the business unit will be responsible for the design and execution of architecture, structure, composite system, electrical, VHT, ELV systems covering data voice, BMS, ACS, CCTV, AV, PMS, NCS, QMS, AMS.

It also includes Car Park management system, asset management system, PHE system, HVAC, FPS covering water curtain system, MGPS, Steam Boilers, and Automatic waste & laundry system.

The High velocity water spray & gas suppression system, LPG, kitchen and laundry equipment, medical pneumatic tube systems, modular integrated OT, BMU system, interior works and solar panels for energy efficiency will also be included.

Furthermore, the contract also include maintenance for VHT, landscape, FAS, CCTV, ACS, AV and AMS for five years.

In August this year, L&T Construction’s Buildings & Factories business unit secured a contract to build Multilevel Parking and Advocates Chamber for the high court at Allahabad in Indian state Uttar Pradesh.
