L&T Construction said that its Water & Effluent Treatment Business has secured a design and execution contract for Phase II of Al Dhakhlia Water Transmission System, a water infrastructure project in Oman.

L&T Construction stated that the contract is valued between INR10bn ($136m) and INR25bn ($340m).

Under the contract, L&T will be responsible for the installation of 173km of pipelines for water transmission with associated civil works, construction of 18 RCC water storage reservoirs, five pumping stations with associated mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation work.

Phase II of Al Dhakhlia Water Transmission System will include the installation of up to 192km of water transmission pipeline with a varying diameter between 500mm and 1,700mm and building a strategic storage reservoir at Izki with a capacity of 350,000m³.

The work will also involve the integration of new reservoirs and pumping stations with the existing SCADA system and with GPRS standby and subsequently to main Central Control Room at Bawshar in Muscat on GPRS communication network and other associated civil, electrical, mechanical, SCADA and instrumentation work.

L&T Construction’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business also secured orders in Bangladesh, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and India.
