L&T Construction’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business has started work on the120MW Lower Kopili hydropower project in Assam, India.
The work forms part of a contract, whereby L&T Construction will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of project infrastructure, civil and hydro-mechanical works. The client is Assam Power Generation Corporation.

The scope of the contract involves the construction of all components of the hydropower project. It includes roads, 65m high concrete gravity dam, power intakes, surface powerhouse and a 3.6km-long headrace tunnel.
L&T said that the contract will be valued between INR10bn ($133.6m) and INR25bn ($334m).
Separately, L&T said its construction arm has been awarded contracts for its diverse businesses.
