Kier Highways has secured contracts from North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council for highway services.
The seven-year contracts, each valued at £30m per year, will start from mid-September this year. However, either or both contracts can be extended to a total of 14 years.
Kier will be the sole services provider to maintain the highways in both the Northamptonshire areas.
Under the terms of the contracts, Kier will work on design and construction of highways. Incident response and reactive maintenance services are also part of the contracts.
Kier Highways managing director (maintenance) James Birch said: “We are delighted and feel privileged to be awarded these contracts and look forward to working with the newly-created unitary authorities.
“We are committed to supporting the councils with their objectives around environmental sustainability and delivering innovation to drive value for money, with our main focus on providing road users with a first-class network.”

By GlobalDataApart from taking up works on highways, Kier will work with councils to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
The company will also cooperate with the two new councils, formed in April 2021, in extending support to local small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
For this, nearly 70% of supply chain spending will be with local businesses.
In addition, local graduates will account for 10% of the workforce. This will support unemployed youth with education, training and job opportunities.
The contracts also have provision to increase the number of jobs offered to people with disabilities year on year.
In April this year, Kier Highways won a £460m contract from National Highways to design and deliver an upgrade to the A417 between Gloucester and Swindon in the UK.
