The UK’s University of Warwick appointed construction firm Kier to develop an 828-bedroom facility as part of the redevelopment of Cryfield Student Village.
This is the second project that Kier is developing with the university.
As part of the project, five accommodation blocks that form the Redfern halls of residence will be demolished and replaced with 12 new buildings to create a miniature village on campus.
The village will comprise townhouses and cluster blocks, as well as a ‘village hall’, which will feature offices, post room, a laundrette, and meeting areas for students.
It is considered as one of the largest residential build projects undertaken by the university and is part of a wider investment programme, under which the university would spend an average of £59m every year from 2010 to 2020.
Work has commenced on the project and the first lot of students are expected to move in mid-2019.

Kier Construction Central managing director Mark Pausey said: “This £57m win is another significant award for Kier in student accommodation and takes the total number of rooms we’re currently providing for the university to over 1,000.
“The demand for student accommodation across the UK has been increasing 17% year on year and this latest scheme builds on our excellent track record in the higher education sector, including projects with the University of Northampton and University of Lincoln.”
