Australian residential property developer Crown Group has selected Japanese architect Kengo Kuma to design a $500m residential development in Brisbane, Australia along with Plus Architecture.
The company said that Kengo Kuma & Associates has already commenced work on the new design for its first residential project in Brisbane.
The new design for the apartment development at West End is planned for the burgeoning suburb that will offer luxury riverside living.
The new residential development is said to be Crown Group’s first project in Queensland and will be a mix of apartments, terraces homes and penthouses with river and city skyline views.
The luxury apartments will be constructed on 1.25-hectares of prime waterfront land at 117 Victoria Street.
The development will also include the company’s resort-style facilities, including a pool, barbecue and poolside facilities, gym, community room and lush tropical gardens.

By GlobalDataCrown Group chairman and CEO Iwan Sunito said: “We were fortunate enough to secure Kuma san as one of the designers of Mastery by Crown Group, at Waterloo in Sydney, which became his first-ever residential project design in Australia.
“Now our buyers will enjoy the opportunity to live in Brisbane’s only Kengo Kuma-designed homes.
“The West End development has the potential to become the largest residential development that he has designed to date, in terms of its expansive floor area.”
According to Queensland Development Director Trent McLauchlan, a design concept for the project is expected by early next year and the revised designs will be submitted to the Brisbane City Council in mid-2021.
