Kane has been awarded a £29m design and build contract by main contractor Balfour Beatty to deliver the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) installation at Lewisham Gateway Phase 2, in Lewisham, London, the UK.

The 26-month contract involves the design and construction of 649 residential units of the £250m Lewisham Gateway Phase 2 project, which is enclosed within four blocks that will range in height from 11 to 30 storeys.

The project also encompasses retail units, a gym, cinema, and a basement energy centre.

Kane will begin its work sometime this month and will make use of offsite construction solutions through the incorporation of prefabricated utility pods in each residential apartment. It will work in tandem with Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick (Balfour Beatty’s own M&E division)

Furthermore, the energy centre will be prefabricated off site, along with corridor service modules that will provide low temperature hot water, cold water, sprinkler pipework, and electrical containment.
