JBG SMITH and Balfour Beatty have broken ground on a new 27-story, two-tower residential project in Arlington, Virginia, US.

Following completion, this multifamily project, 2000 and 2001 South Bell Street, is expected to transform the National Landing area as well as meet the growing residential demand in the Crystal City community.

This complex will consist of two separate towers at 2000 and 2001 South Bell Street with a total of 775 units.

It will feature studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments.

The 2000 South Bell tower will be 27 storied structure with custom glass curtainwall façade and have 355 apartment units. Adjacent to this tower will be 20-story 2001 South Bell building with a precast and brick façade and 420 units.

The two towers will provide amenities that include rooftop decks and pools set over a two-story garage podium.

Besides the construction of the residential buildings, an extension of South Bell Street will be delivered in between the two towers to deliver a roadway for public transportation.

Balfour Beatty is acting as construction manager at-risk for this project.

JBG SMITH is Balfour Beatty’s repeat-client.

Balfour Beatty has provided two years of preconstruction services before breaking ground on the 2000 & 2001 South Bell Street projects.

It has delivered demolition activities of an existing 13-story office building and will also provide further demolition services of a two-story garage during the construction process.
