The Port of Seattle has chosen engineering service provider Jacobs to lead and oversee the ten-year renovation of the S Concourse at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) in Washington, US.

Modernising the 50-year-old concourse involves upgrading its operational systems and environmental efficiency, as well as its earthquake resistance, prioritising seismic improvements.

S Concourse is the main hub for international passengers in the state.

Jacobs plans to offer complete project management services such as project controls, estimating and scheduling assistance, developing enabling facilities to support phase construction (airside, terminal, utilities), and a comprehensive gate utilisation strategy.

Furthermore, the company will supply advisory services for passenger flow analysis, airport and airline tenant engagement, and evaluating sustainable building opportunities, including rainwater harvesting, natural gas elimination, and the setting up of sustainable alternative power sources such as solar energy.

Jacobs People and Places Solutions Americas West Region senior vice-president and general manager Imad Feghali said: “We are working together to create a multiphased approach with long-term benefits for the operation and readiness of the staff, systems, equipment, and processes during the development of the S Concourse.
