“Alongside the many health and wellbeing benefits this funding will bring, it will also provide an economic boost for the community through local labour and sub-contractors.”

The company has planned to commence work on the project this month and is expected to be completed in 2026.

It also said that the hospital will remain operational during this period.

Additionally, the company will also work with the project partners to create many apprenticeships for people who are involved in the refurbishment and boost the local economy and jobs market.

Interserve Construction Wales divisional director Carl Read said: “We are committed to providing social value and will be working with the local community to ensure employment opportunities and apprenticeships are created throughout the lifetime of this project.”
