Building safety solutions provider and Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) member, the International Code Council is set to highlight the key role of codes and standards in achieving climate resilience at the UN Conference of the Parties (COP28) throughout the two-week event.

The International Code Council and related organisations aim to highlight the need to include the building and construction sectors in climate negotiations.

The council’s team will present new ideas and leadership solutions across ten sessions.

These sessions include decarbonising the built environment: building codes and capacity building for implementation and enforcement; sustainable construction and urban development, as well as innovations for carbon reduction and resilience.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the 28th COP to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai. The objective of this year’s event is rethinking and refocusing worldwide climate action.

The International Code Council also supports the GlobalABC Buildings Pavilion, which will hold several building-related workshops at COP28, to promote the importance of buildings as a climate solution.
