An affiliate of the US-based hospitality firm Hyatt Hotels has signed a management agreement with Umm Alqura to develop and build a Grand Hyatt branded hotel in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Located in close proximity to the Grand Mosque, Grand Hyatt Makkah will comprise 756 rooms and will be an integral component of the King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR) mixed-use urban development project that is designed to support tourism market.

The hospitality firm said that the new hotel will be the first Grand Hyatt hotel in Makkah and the second hotel in Saudi Arabia.

Under the contract, Hyatt Hotels will be responsible for the development and construction of the new hotel, which is scheduled to open in January 2025.

Hyatt Hotels stated that the interiors of the new hotel will be integrated with materials and artwork that represents Islamic tradition while maintaining the detailed design and luxurious services synonymous with the Grand Hyatt brand.

Umm Alqura for Development and Construction CEO Yasser Abuateek said: “One of our key ambitions is also to add value to the local real estate market, and by introducing globally renowned brands we are making significant strides towards achieving this objective.
