Hudson Pacific Properties has announced plans for a new hybrid mass timber office building, named Burrard Exchange, in Vancouver, Canada.

The company has recently submitted plans for the new development to the City of Vancouver authorities.

The project will add nearly 450,000ft2 of office and retail space to the Bentall Centre campus.

The 16-storey development will include rooftop deck with conference area, meeting spaces and outdoor seating for tenant use, as well as terraces and loggias on half of the building.

It will also feature lobby connecting to shops at Bentall Centre; new 20,000ft2 plaza and parking space for more than 700 bicycles along with showers and personal lockers.

The new office building will also have designated pick-up / drop-off area for rideshare services along with direct connection to Burrard Skytrain Station.

Hudson Pacific stated that the project will create new street frontages, amenities and retail space to serve the whole campus and public.

It also noted that the Burrard Exchange will be one of the tallest exposed mass timber office buildings in North America.

Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) has been appointed as the design architect and the Vancouver office of Adamson Associates Architects as the architect of record.

Hudson Pacific Western Canada senior vice president Chuck We said: “Burrard Exchange will be the pinnacle of Bentall Centre’s years-long transformation into a modern campus and landmark destination for workers, locals and visitors in the heart of downtown Vancouver.

“We are proud to contribute to the local economic recovery with this major investment and to support the City of Vancouver’s climate emergency action plan with an innovative mass timber proposal.”
