Crestpoint Real Estate Investments has announced the start of construction of a new Amazon fulfilment centre in Ajax, Ontario.

The new 1.1 million ft² facility is located on the northern parcel of Crestpoint’s GTA East Industrial Park.

It will be used to pack and ship large customer goods such as sports equipment, patio furniture, fishing rods, pet food, kayaks, bicycles and other household goods.

The 58-acre build-to-suit distribution centre, at Salem Road and Rossland Road East, will create 1,000 new jobs in the town. Construction on the fulfilment centre is set to be completed in 2021.

Upon completion, the single-tenant, Class-A industrial building will include a 40ft clear height, 110 dock-level doors, and 195 trailer parking stalls.

Broccolini is constructing and developing the fulfilment centre for Amazon Canada.
