US-based infrastructure company Granite has announced that the Arizona Department of Transportation has granted it a roadway restoration project in Tucson, Arizona, the US.

The $34m contract is for the Tucson – Oracle Junction – Globe Hwy (SR77), Junction I-10 to Calle Concordia project in Tucson.

The contract was included in Granite’s Q4 2020 backlog.

The project will cover restoration work of nine miles of the six-lane State Route 77/Oracle Road in Pima County, Arizona, along with an arterial road connecting Interstate 10 to the City of Tucson, Casa Adobes and the Town of Oro Valley.

Scope of work involved in the roadway restoration project for Granite includes the milling and replacement of the asphaltic concrete; lengthening the storm drainpipe; constructing the kerbs and gutters, walkways and walkway ramps; replacing the guardrail; bridge deck repairing; signals and lighting replacement, apart from other miscellaneous improvements.

Granite’s Tangerine Road Facility will be supplying all of the construction materials required for the project, including 145,000 tonnes of asphaltic concrete and 20,000 tonnes of concrete aggregates.

Slated to begin in April 2021, construction and restoration works are expected to conclude by March 2023.
