GRAHAM has been appointed by Milton Keynes City Council as the primary contractor for Phase A of the Lakes Estate Renewal Project in Bletchley, UK.

The contract, procured through Pagabo’s Major Works Framework, is a two-stage design-and-build agreement valued at £70m ($85.4m).

This development marks one of the first major regeneration initiatives undertaken by Milton Keynes.

The Lakes Estate was originally built in the 1960s.

With planning permission secured in 2022, the project aims to revitalise the community with new housing, enhanced facilities, and superior living conditions.

The plan includes the demolition of properties at Serpentine Court, within the Lakes Estate, by 2027.

GRAHAM development director Rob Joyce said: “We are proud to have been selected by Milton Keynes City Council to deliver this crucial phase of the Lakes Estate. This renewal project signifies not only a substantial investment in community regeneration but also a commitment to enhancing the well-being and vitality of the residents who live there.

“We are committed to working closely with the council to transform the Lakes Estate into a thriving and sustainable living space for the community.”

Pagabo South of England delivery head Ben Jones added: “Pagabo is really proud to have supported Milton Keynes City Council (MKCC) on such an important project for the community, and the city. We’ve worked with the project team at MKCC since early 2021 to support and deliver the procurement, via our Major Works 2020 framework.”

The development’s first phase will see the construction of 183 new homes, as well as new community amenities.

These amenities will comprise a nursery, a community hub, and two retail spaces, which are anticipated to house a pharmacy and a food takeaway service.
