Gilbane Development Company has started construction on a 978-bed student housing project, known as Tempo, at The University of Maryland (UMD) in College Park, Maryland.
The eight-storey student community will include 296 units / 978 beds and will have 300 indoor parking spaces.
To be located at 8430 Baltimore Avenue, the project will be spread across a 2.05-acre site. It is less than 0.1 miles from the campus edge and is at a five-minute walk distance from the campus.
The student housing project will serve over 42% of UMD’s undergraduate population.
Apart from public bikes and scooter parking stall, the project will feature a dedicated rideshare pick-up and drop-off space located on-site next to a covered pocket park.
Tempo said to be the first one to provide students in College Park with five-bedroom units.
