UK-based real estate developer Muse has revealed that construction on the Forge Island scheme in Rotherham, England, UK, has entered its final stages.

The £47m ($59.52m) project is scheduled to open around mid-2024.

Contractor Bowmer + Kirkland is delivering the project for Muse and Rotherham Council.

It is part of the redevelopment plans of Rotherham Council for the city’s town centre.

Muse senior development manager Raife Gale said: “Developing a transformational scheme of this scale always comes with its challenges – not least the difficulties of building on an ‘island’ surrounded by water – so the fact we’ve remained on track is a testament to the hard work of the whole project team.”

Construction work on the scheme commenced in November last year, with development progressing at a fast pace since, with all topping-out milestones anticipated to be fulfilled early next year.

The project team of the Forge Island scheme includes Helm Consulting, Arcadis, Arup, and re-form landscape architecture.

Rotherham Council Jobs and Local Economy cabinet member Denise Lelliott said: “These developments form the main cornerstones of the council’s multimillion-pound investment in Rotherham’s future.

“Thousands of local people also discovered more about the past, present and future of Forge Island at a dedicated marquee at the Rotherham Show in September.”
