ENOC, which is the Official Integrated Energy Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, has completed construction of its pavilion at the expo.

The pavilion, built under the theme of ‘Reimagine Energy’, occupies approximately 2,060m2 and has five different structures.

The expo will be held from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022 and will have 200 participants.

About 700t of steel has been used to build the pavilion to reduce waste and environmental impact.

Following dismantling of the pavilion, the steel can be used further in construction of other pavilions and help return the site to its original state once the expo concludes in 2022.

The pavilion is claimed to have been built adhering to the sustainability and design standards, with focus on local and recyclable materials.

ENOC Group CEO Saif Humaid Al Falasi said: “As the Official Integrated Energy Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, we are presenting an innovative and fully immersive experience at our pavilion that challenges the conventional understanding of energy and offers inspiring insights on how we can all come together and collectively think about what will shape the future of energy.

“Despite the challenges faced, our team worked around the clock, following all safety protocols to deliver a state-of-the-art pavilion that will offer visitors an unforgettable experience, that will inspire and encourage them to rethink about what energy is, the potential it holds and how it can change our lives. The pavilion features a mixed mode functional design for HVAC systems that cuts down energy consumption by 20.1% lower than ASHRAE 90.1 benchmark assessment.

Furthermore, as per the DEWA guidelines, the pavilion is claimed to have met reduction of 30% in potable water demand.

The theme of the pavilion is inspired by oil storage tanks with five distinct structures, which include four narratives: Discovery – what energy is; Harness – what energy enables; Collaborate – what energy needs; and Reimagine – what energy promises.

A dedicated space will be provided for government and industry stakeholders to engage and discuss.

It will be the first world expo to take place in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region
