The Diriyah Company has revealed the concept design for its new multipurpose venue, The Arena, located on the outskirts of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The design, crafted by UK-based HKS Architects, aims to create a technologically advanced and globally significant arena that reflects the local geology and culture.

The design announcement, part of a $63.2bn master plan, was made at MIPIM in Cannes, France, with the UK Minister of State for Business and Trade Lord Dominic Johnson of Lainston, in attendance.

Spanning 76,000m², The Arena is a multipurpose sports, entertainment, and cultural venue with 20,000 seats.

It is intended to become a tourism landmark in the Middle East and enhance Saudi Arabia’s entertainment offerings in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s economic diversification principles.

The project’s design is inspired by the natural geology of Diriyah and incorporates traditional Najdi architectural motifs, reflecting centuries of heritage.

The venue will incorporate a flexible design that allows for rapid transformation between configurations, enabling it to host a variety of events in quick succession.

Additionally, The Arena will offer an extended entertainment experience, with easy access to a shopping and dining district within the Diriyah community.

Adjacent to The Arena will be the Plaza, an outdoor space designed for live performances and community gatherings.
