UK-based aLL Design has reportedly entered a partnership with Kiloran Development Group to build a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya.

Named The Beacon, the mall will be situated on a site off the east of Uhuru Highway towards Bunyala Road, and is said to be the first project for aLL Design in Africa and the second shopping centre development for Kiloran.

The mall will occupy 28,500m² of space and is expected to be completed in 2020.

According to the company, the mall will be located between major employment zones, including the Central Business District, the Industrial Area and Upper Hill.

The construction budget for the new project has not been disclosed.

aLL Design co-founder Marcos Rosello was quoted by Business Daily as saying: “We were intrigued by Kiloran’s ideas for this mall in Nairobi and were pleased to be able create an open-air mall with a focus on sustainability, fun and family which we believe to be key drivers on future international mall design.”

Furthermore, the publication reported that The Beacon will feature a shopping centre, Grade A office project, 24,300m² of retail, food and beverage outlets and a 4,200m² seven-storey office tower to manage the roof garden and bar.

The company in a statement noted: “The building will be an architectural legacy for Nairobi that will serve to promote tourism.”
