The Tower Hamlets London Borough Council has started construction on the fourth phase of a housing development in Limehouse, London, the UK.

The project, Locksley D site, is the fourth part of the wider Locksley Estate.

It includes construction of 17 new council homes on a previously unused land locally known as the Limehouse Triangle.

This consists of 17, one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom residential homes available for affordable rent.

It is noted that the housing development is a part of the Mayor’s commitment to deliver 2,000 new council homes across the borough.

Construction work on the project is anticipated to be completed in November 2022.

Tower Hamlets London Borough Council Housing cabinet member Cllr Danny Hassell said: “The site at Locksley D will deliver more high-quality homes suitable for families and disabled residents as we continue to tackle the housing crisis.

“Once complete, the wider estate will create a vibrant neighbourhood for our residents to enjoy along with a play area for the local community.”

In May 2018, Bouygues UK was appointed as the principal contractor for the development of all four sites of the Locksley Estate.

Bouygues UK CEO Rob Bradley said: “It’s an honour to be here to mark the fourth phase of this important development.

“We are proud to support the borough in their commitment to build more housing and excited to build more high-quality homes for local residents in Tower Hamlets.”

The company was appointed to deliver Locksley D, which is the fourth phase of the £37.1m project in January this year.
