The officials of Riverside County have started construction on a new $75m juvenile and family courthouse in Indio, California, US.

Located at 47-671 Oasis Street, the new facility is being constructed to combine complete family and juvenile court functions in the desert region.

The proposed building will be approximately 53,255ft2 with five courtrooms, surface parking for 150 cars along with eight secure parking spaces for judges.

The new Courthouse will have two courtrooms which will move from the existing Juvenile Court on Oasis Street.

Two courtrooms from the family division at existing Larson Justice Center on Oasis will also move to the new building.

A fifth courtroom will enable the addition of a new judgeship.

By transferring two courtrooms from the existing Larson Justice Center, additional space would be created for regular court activities.

California State Assembly member Eduardo Garcia was quoted by The Desert Sun as saying: “This new facility will provide increased courtroom and administration space, ease the accessibility of family services, and create an opportunity for a new judgeship in our region. Our attention must next be turned to filling judicial positions to better serve the growing needs of our community.”

Indio mayor Waymond Fermon stated that the new Juvenile and Family Courthouse will help to provide solutions to families.

Recently, Shopoff Realty Investments secured a $47m construction loan from CoreVest Finance to build a new build-for-rent project in La Quinta, California.

To be built at the southwest corner of Auto Center Drive and La Quinta Drive, the new development, named SolTerra, covers nearly 18-acres and will feature 131 single-family-homes.
