The Government of New South Wales (NSW) in Australia has announced that works have been initiated for the construction of a new warehouse for Australia Post at Goodman and Brickworks’ Oakdale West Industrial Estate in Kemps Creek.

During the construction phase, the project is expected to create 1,700 employment opportunities in the region.

The warehouse project is estimated to inject more than $39.8m (A$55m) capital into the Western Sydney economy.

The warehouse is to become operational by next year.

Once operational, the new warehouse facility will have a capacity to process up to 400,000 parcels per day.

NSW Minister for Planning and Minister for Homes Anthony Roberts said: “It will start processing 200,000 parcels a day when it opens in early 2023, with the ability to scale up to more than 400,000 a day with further automation.”

Additionally, NSW has given approval for the construction of two new warehouse facilities in the Oakdale West Industrial Estate.

The two warehouse projects are expected to create 800 jobs during the construction phase and 150 employment opportunities once they enter the operational phase.

NSW Government estimates that the two projects could bring in around $14.4m (A$20m) investment into the community.

Last December, the NSW Government proposed to build a new water recycling centre at Kemps Creek to provide a water system for more than 1.5 million people.
