UK Minister for Investment Lord Dominic Johnson has chosen Hampton Court Palace as the venue for next week’s Global Investment Summit.

The event on 27 November will focus on ‘Great British Ideas – Past, Present and Future’ and will be attended by over 200 business CEOs. The summit will explore opportunities for investing in sectors including technology, sustainability, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and creative industries.

The summit attracts big names in the FDI industry. Last week, the UK government said JP Morgan’s CEO Jamie Dimon and his counterpart at Goldman Sachs David Solomon will attend the event, which seeks to attract greater capital for UK companies and markets.

Since Brexit, the UK has struggled with political instability and faltering foreign direct investment (FDI) levels. In 2021, seven out of twelve regions across the country experienced net disinvestment, according to a parliamentary briefing published in June 2023. At the same time, London accounted for nearly half (45%) of the stock of inward FDI in the UK, while the southeast of England accounted for 17%.

Of the summit, Johnson said: “The UK is a top global investment destination, and this event will help secure billions of pounds of valuable investment that has the power to drive economic growth and create jobs.

“I’m hugely excited that our Global Investment Summit will be staged at the historic Hampton Court Palace. For centuries, this Palace was a focal point for exploration, innovation and discovery, with famous Britons from Henry VIII to William Shakespeare having lived or visited here.”
