CIMC Modular Building Systems (CIMC MBS) has hosted a delivery ceremony to celebrate the birth of Hong Kong’s first modular legislative office.

The office is part of the expansion project of the Hong Kong Legislative Council Complex.

It represents the first use of modular construction technology for the expansion project in Hong Kong.

After the development is completed, it is also said to be Hong Kong’s first high-end office of its kind.

The project comprises 286 modules and involves adding legislative floors from the 11th to the 14th level.

Every floor is outfitted with 15 legislative offices, along with facilities such as receptions, toilets, and pantry areas. Each legislative office occupies an area of approximately 60m².

The structure is built by assembling three modules, comprising the legislator’s private office and the staff’s open-plan workspace.

The triangular area formed by expanding from the first to the 10th floor holds almost 120 more legislative offices.

In August this year, mass production of steel structures began at the manufacturing base of CIMC MBS in Jiangmen.

The project is anticipated to be completed and available for use by the end of next year.

CIMC MBS managing director Victor Zhu said: “Quality is regarded as a significant long-term strategic focus for the company’s business development, ensuring that customer needs and expectations are accurately conveyed throughout the entire value chain.

“In the future, CIMC MBS will make every effort to create ‘exquisite projects’, efficiently improve the living environment, and continuously create sustainable value for global clients.”
