Balfour Beatty Living Places has secured an eight-year, £176m from Buckinghamshire Council in the UK for the maintenance of highways assets across the county.
This contract comes with an option for extension for an additional four years.
The contract will commence from 1 April 2023.
Balfour Beatty Living Places will collaborate with the council to offer a resilient local road network by maintaining more than 5,000km of highways, carriageways, footpaths, and cycle routes.
Furthermore, Balfour Beatty Living Places will be responsible for providing winter maintenance services as well as the operation and maintenance of the county’s street lighting and important community assets, such as gullies and traffic signals.
The company will leverage innovative solutions and materials, such as reused rubber asphalt when laying new road surfaces to cut down carbon emissions and waste, as well as deploy electric charging points at its depots to facilitate its electric vehicle fleet, in line with its sustainability strategy, “Building New Futures.”

By GlobalDataFor continuous effective maintenance of highways assets across the county, Balfour Beatty Living Places will also set up an ‘Operational Efficiency Hub’, a data-driven hub to track all activities in real-time, monitor progress of works and capture data to boost efficiencies across the network.
