Health care company Atrium Health has commenced construction on Mountain Island Emergency Department in Mecklenburg County in North Carolina, the US.
The brand-new, freestanding emergency medical facility is being built in Mountain Island, directly off Highway 16 and near I-485 in northwestern Mecklenburg County.

The new 12,500ft2 standalone facility will be completely equipped with latest technology in its six emergency department rooms and a trauma room.
It will also include a three-bay triage area, two observation beds, imaging services and a laboratory and pharmacy services to support the facility.
Atrium Health stated that the new emergency facility is being constructed to bring high quality, convenient access to emergency health care services for the residents of northwestern Mecklenburg County.
It also noted that the new Mountain Island Emergency Department is aligned with Atrium Health University City, which is claimed to have one of the highest patient safety ratings in the nation.

By GlobalDataConstruction work on the facility is expected to take nearly 10-11 months and the opening is slated by the end of the year.
