Ashghal, the public works authority of Qatar, has signed nine new contracts worth QAR3.6bn ($988.7m) with Qatari firms for roads and infrastructure projects in the country.

The projects will serve 5,111 residential plots in several areas throughout the country.

First contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Umm Slal Mohammed – Package 01

The first contract, worth QAR623m ($171.1m), has been awarded to Hamad Bin Khaled Contracting Company to serve 591 plots.

The contract will include the delivery of the road works with a length of nearly 35.7km, pedestrian and cycle paths with an overall length of about 47km, 1,315 lighting poles and 4,310 car parks. The work will also include the provision of surface and groundwater drainage networks, a sewage network, and a treated sewage effluent (TSE) network.

The second order, valued at QAR545m ($149.6m), has been assigned to the “Development Company for Roadworks” and “Qatar Building Engineering Company” joint venture to cater to 590 plots.

Under the contract, the firms will be responsible for the delivering nearly 24.5km, pedestrian and cycle paths with a length of about 46km and 695 lighting poles along with surface and groundwater drainage networks, a sewage network and TSE network.

Third contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al-Meshaf South – Package 08

The third contract, which was awarded to Al-Tawfeeq & Partners Contracting, is valued at QAR515m ($141m) and will serve 356 plots.

The project includes road works with a length of about 40.5km, and the provision of 1,737 lighting poles and 650 car parks. It also includes the provision of surface and underground water drainage networks, a sewage network, and a TSE network.

Fourth Contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al Ebb and Leabaib – Package 02

The fourth contract worth QAR384m ($105m) has been awarded to Qatar Building Company. It will serve 873 residential plots.

The work will include the construction of 25.5km of road works, 51km of pedestrian and cycle paths, more than 4,170 car parks, and nearly 2,600 lighting poles. It will also involve the infrastructure development, including surface and groundwater drainage networks, a sewage network and a TSE network.

Fifth Contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Mebaireek – Package 01

The fifth contract, valued at QAR355m ($97.5m), has been awarded to Boom Construction Company.  It will serve 712 residential plots for citizens.

The scope of the work will include the construction and development of 54km of roads, and the provision of 935 lighting poles. It will also involve the delivery of surface and groundwater drainage networks, a sewage network, and a TSE network.

Sixth Contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al-Wajba East – Package 03

The sixth contract, worth QAR324m ($88.9m), has been awarded to Galfar Al Misnad Engineering and Contracting Company. It will serve 417 residential plots.

The scope of the work will involve the construction and development of about 23.5km of roads, about 45km of pedestrian and cycle paths. It will also include the construction of a sewage network, surface and groundwater drainage networks and a TSE network.

Seventh Contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Semaisma South – Package 02

The seventh contract, QAR319m ($87.6m), has been awarded to Al Jaber and Partners Construction and Energy Projects Company. It will serve 627 residential plots.

The contract will include the construction and development of about 23km of roads, about 14.5km of pedestrian and cycle paths, and the provision of more than 720 lighting poles. It will also include the construction of a sewage network, surface and groundwater drainage networks and a TSE network.

Eighth contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Mebaireek – Package 02

The eighth order worth QAR286m ($78.5m) has been assigned to Boom Construction. It will cater to 577 residential plots.

The scope of the contract will include the construction of 36.8km of roads, providing 714 lighting poles, in addition to developing infrastructure which includes surface and groundwater drainage networks, a sewage network, and a TSE network.

Ninth contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al-Wajba East – Package 01

The QAR263m ($72m) ninth contract has been awarded to Galfar Al-Misnad Engineering & Contracting to serve 368 residential plots.

The contract will also include road works at a total length of 17km, providing 34km of pedestrian paths, about 2,570 car parks, and over 800 lighting poles along with surface and groundwater drainage networks, a sewage network and a TSE network.
