French multinational hospitality company Accor, in collaboration with Yaralla Sports Club, has commenced the construction of a five-star hotel in Central Queensland, Australia.

Peppers Gladstone is said to be the region’s first five-star hotel, and the property is scheduled to open next year.

Additionally, Peppers Gladstone is the first brand-new hotel to be built in the area in more than ten years.

As a dual-branded hotel concept, the property will be a merger of 32-room Peppers Gladstone and 60-room Mantra Gladstone under one roof.

Australia-based Mettle Projects is overseeing the construction project, and architecture and interior design firm BSPN Architects has designed the property.

Accor Pacific CEO Sarah Derry said: “Peppers Gladstone will offer a unique and significant addition to our premium brand portfolio in Queensland.
