October 2022 has seen a decrease of 8.72% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.03% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering an increase of 0.61% over the last three-month average share.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 48.94% in October 2022, an 87.87% rise over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 27.9% in October 2022, marking a 19.5% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 7.61% in October 2022, a flat growth from September 2022.

Top five construction companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 94.05% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s construction industry during October 2022 over previous month.
CDM Smith posted 1,430 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered an increase of 400% over the previous month, followed by Black & Veatch with 764 jobs and a 105.38% growth. Komatsu with 357 IT jobs and Deere with 177 jobs, recorded a 37.26% drop and an 82.47% rise, respectively, while Honeywell International recorded a 9.09% decline with 140 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s construction industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 90.56% share in October 2022, a 24.57% increase over September 2022. Canada featured next with a 7.81% share, down 42.88% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.55% share, a growth of 11.43% compared with September 2022.
Mid Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Mid Level jobs held a share of 49.06%, up by 125.69% from September 2022. Junior Level positions with a 35.09% share, registered a decline of 30.09% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.48% share, down 35.63% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 6.38%, recording a month-on-month growth of 473.21%.
