India’s construction industry registered a 20.2% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.51% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.11% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 1.98% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s construction industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.71% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s construction industry in October 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 45.65% in October 2022, registering a 45.34% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 24.27% share, a decrease of 20.1% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 9.77%, registering a 72.97% rise from September 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 9.47%, down 47.01% over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 39.01% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s construction industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Larsen & Toubro posted 83 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 62.95% over the previous month, followed by General Electric with 61 jobs and a 45.24% growth. Honeywell International with 53 IT jobs and Caterpillar with 48 jobs, recorded a 62.41% decline and a 26.32% growth, respectively, while Johnson Controls International recorded an increase of 100% with 38 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.07%, down by 21.57% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 33.59% share, registered a decline of 42.71% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.04% share, down 57.69% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.31%, recording a month-on-month increase of 100%.
