The industry’s overall hiring increased by 7.03% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.52% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.84% over the last three-month average share.

By GlobalData1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 52.67% in September 2021, registering a 15.85% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 22.9% share, an increase of 3.45% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.69%, registering a 22.22% decline from August 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.11%, up 33.33% over the previous month.
Top five construction companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 7.14% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Manulife US Real Estate Investment Trust posted 24 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 25% over the previous month, followed by WSP Global with 23 jobs and a 76.92% growth. Stantec with 22 IT jobs and Hatch with 14 jobs, recorded a 4.35% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Arup Group recorded an increase of 250% with 7 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.67%, down by 34.29% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.77% share, registered an increase of 5.41% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.79% share, up 69.23% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.76%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
