The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 8.33% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.94% share in June 2022, recording an increase of 0.1% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 51.85% in June 2022, registering a 34.19% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 15.15% share, a decrease of 23.73% over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 22.95% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

Komatsu posted 125 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a drop of 20.38% over the previous month, followed by PCL Constructors with 68 jobs and a 33.98% drop. Hatch with 16 IT jobs and SNC-Lavalin Group with 9 jobs, recorded a 5.88% decline and a 25% decrease, respectively, while Altus Group recorded an increase of 133.33% with 7 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.65%, down by 33.1% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with an 18.86% share, registered a decline of 17.65% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.82% share, down 26.56% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.67%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
