The Madinah Government in Saudi Arabia launched a new mixed-use project worth SAR55bn ($14.6bn).
The project, named Dar Al-Hijrah, will be developed close to the Prophet’s Mosque, Miqat and Qiba Mosque.
The 1.6 million m² project site will feature 100 administrative and residential towers, each at 30-storeys high.
While 20 towers will be used for administrative purposes, 80 will be used for residential purposes. The buildings will also house 76 four-star and six five-star hotels with 40,000 rooms.
Reebok International founder Paul Fireman proposed to build a $4.6bn skyscraper with a casino project in Jersey City, US.
The 95-storey tower will be known as Liberty Rising and will be located next to the 160 acre Liberty National Golf Course, which was built by Fireman in 2006.

The proposed building would be taller than the World Trade Centre, currently the largest skyscraper in the western hemisphere. The mixed-use project would include a casino, a hotel, apartments, shops and an entertainment complex.
The Westadium consortium, led by Brookfield Multiplex, John Laing and Brookfield Johnson Controls, along with the West Australian Government, revealed the winning designs of the new Perth Stadium and Sports Precinct in Burswood, Perth.

Detroit-based real estate company Olympia Development of Michigan (ODM) unveiled the designs of a new $650m mixed-use development project in downtown Detroit, US.
The project, which will include residential, retail, office facilities and an events centre, will connect existing and new developments along Woodward Avenue with five mixed-use district neighbourhoods.
The five neighbourhoods are Columbia Street, Wildcat Corner, Cass Park Village, Columbia Park and a new home for the upcoming Detroit arena.
Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) formally signed the AED1.45bn ($395m) contract with Dubai International Real Estate (DIRE) to build package eight of the Jewel of the Creek mixed-use project in Port Saeed, Dubai, UAE.
The latest agreement was part of the AED3bn ($816m) Jewel of the Creek development project, and was awarded to HLG on 28 May.
In 2012, HLG was also selected for the project’s package seven, under which the company will be responsible for building the substructure works for four basement levels and ground floor slabs on the waterside site.

The US Department of State announced that it would build a new Kuwait Armed Forces Hospital at an estimated cost of $1.7bn.
The move was part of the foreign military sale offered by the US Government to Kuwait for the design, construction and procurement of medical, non-medical and IT equipment for the Kuwait Armed Forces Hospital, as well as its operation and maintenance.
The military hospital’s project management, engineering and other technical facilities and infrastructure services will be undertaken by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
