The global food service industry noticed a 10.9% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 over the previous month, led by Cineworld Group’s 27.73% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.

The food service industry’s overall hiring activity declined 3.61% when compared with May 2021.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 0.21% share of the global food service industry’s hiring activity in June 2021, up 0.03% over the last three-month average share.

According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2021 were 7.83% higher compared with the previous month.

The increase was a result of 15.84% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive food service IT hiring activity

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 50% emerged as the top IT occupation in the food service hiring activity in June 2021, a 3.23% an increase over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 13.67% in June 2021, up 20.69% over the previous month.

The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 12.89% share in June 2021, an increase of 37.5% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 9.77% share in June 2021 and rise of 25% over May 2021.

Top five food service companies by recruitment activity in June 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average an increase of 41.18% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global food service industry during June 2021 over May 2021.

Cineworld Group posted 71 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a rise of 4.41% over the previous month, followed by Starbucks with 37 jobs and an 117.65% rise. Compass Group with 29 IT jobs and Greene King with 18 jobs, recorded a 61.11% an increase and a 260% growth, respectively, while HelloFresh recorded an 18.18% growth with 13 job postings during June 2021.

Regional composition of IT hiring in food service industry

North America emerged as the leading region in the global food service IT hiring activity in June 2021 with a 78.52% share, which marked a 16.18% growth over the previous month.

Europe stood next with 16.8%, registering a 43.33% month-on-month an increase.Middle East & Africa was the third leading region with a 1.95% share and a 66.67% rise over May 2021.

In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 1.56% and a month-on-month growth of 100%. Asia-Pacific stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.17%, registering a 50% an increase over the previous month.
