Balustrade expert Richard Burbidge has supplied its FUSION® Commercial outdoor balustrade system with glass panels for the viewing deck of a new park lodge at a commercial game shoot in Lincoln, maximising views and creating an attractive space for guests.

Opened five years ago, the family-run Brampton and Thonock Park Shoot specialises in partridge and pheasant shooting, holding around 30 shoot days per year. The Shoot has recently extended its facilities with the addition of a shooting lodge, incorporating many traditional building methods such as queen post trusses and horse hair plaster walls. The new lodge also features a grand open fireplace and a large verandah around the perimeter of the building, where shoot parties can watch, relax or dine at the banqueting table.

Incorporating hardwood handrails and metal newels, FUSION® Commercial outdoor balustrade, was installed around the external deck area to provide a safe and stylish barrier, whilst the glass panels helped to maximise the sense of space on deck.

Jonathan Wraith of Brampton and Thonock Park Shoot, comments: “We were instantly attracted to the stunning aesthetics and clean lines of the FUSION® system. Plus, Richard Burbidge’s ability to deliver the product on time was a real bonus. The lodge took nine months to complete and a lot of hard work went in to making it look as professional as it does. So, it was important to us that we used a product that not only reflected the design aspects and quality of the lodge, but also one with enough flexibility to fit in with our tight build schedule.”

FUSION Commercial outdoor balustrade is strength tested to 1.5kN/m, in line with the requirements of British Standards, making it suitable for commercial use, as well as use on high level decks and balconies.

The system combines timber rails with metal newels and connectors, and a choice of infill options, including hardwood balusters and hardwood slatted panels, as well as glass panels.

David Richards, Commercial Market Manager for Richard Burbidge, adds: “The FUSION glass panel system has been used to great effect at the park shoot, making the most of the space and stunning scenery. On smaller projects such as this, off-the-shelf availability is a real advantage, as a high quality look and feel can be achieved without lengthy lead times and excessive costs.”

Richard Burbidge offers a wide range of resources and added-value services for specifiers and architects, including RIBA approved CPD seminars on stair balustrade, CAD drawings, two online planning tools and downloadable specification guides. Plus, the company also offers a bespoke planning service, providing fully priced solutions for individual project plans.
